π10 Ways Learning Leaders Use Show and Tell
Each week, during our team huddle, we share one new thing we learned that week. This usually includes linking to articles, sharing pictures, and playing YouTube videos as we try to pass on the excitement of our new learning to the rest of the team.
Research shows that tapping into relevant images, videos, and real-world examples will capture attention in a unique way that encourages participation, learning, and relationship building. Sharing information through various formats enhances understanding of new concepts and can improve workflows as you are introduced to new perspectives in an interesting way.
Here are 10 ways to add a "show and tell" element to your meetings to build involvement, understanding, and rapport across your team.
ONE - SOCIAL MEDIA
Have team members take turns presenting a short video or meme that relates to their work, interests, or how theyβre feeling that week. Allow the team to ask questions and have a discussion on topics of interest.
TWO - PROJECT
Ask 1-2 team members each week to present 3-5 key slides on a project they are working on. Allow Q&A time.
THREE - RELEVANT CONTENT
Encourage the team to share any interesting articles, images, or charts related to their learning that week. Discuss how this applies to your work.
FOUR - TECH
Have team members demonstrate a new tech tool or software relevant to their role. Consider potential applications as a team.
FIVE - NEW PROCESSES
Set aside time for 1-2 members to present a new process or workflow they are testing out. Gather feedback.
SIX - WORK CULTURE
Invite the team to share a funny work-related image or cartoon that resonated with them that week. This could be a fun way to break the ice on topical conversations around work culture.
